EARTHEN BUIDLING WORKSHOPS - ALGARVE - PORTUGAL
FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN AND ADULTS
WE WILL HOST EARHEN BUILDING WORKSHOP IN PORTUGAL FROM OCTOBER 2024 AGAIN
After building an earthen home and hosting building workshops in Slovakia, we'd like to continue teaching this important
and amazing life skill in Portugal.
We welcome you to join one of our workshop days in a beautiful food forest garden (belonging to our wonderful hosts José and Dina, in Falfosa, near Loule), where you will experience building with earth, stone and wood, the most ancient building materials.
We are currently constructing an outdoor kitchen and a children's playhouse.
Our earthen home in Slovakia
1 DAY EARTHEN BUILDING WORKSHOP - ADULTS
The adult course covers a wide range of topics relating to the construction of an earthen building.
You will gain theoretical and practical knowledge on: building regulations, designing with passive solar and energy saving principles, earth's thermal mass for storing heat, materials/tools needed for building process, planning and building the roof, testing your soil, how to mix materials with correct clay-sand ratios, foundations, drainage, stem wall,
building the walls (with different methods for load-bearing walls or wall fillers), inserting door/window frames, earthen plasters,
earthen floors, advantages/disadvantages of earth, combination with other building materials,
performance of earthen homes during the summer and winter, and much more.
We offer a plant-based food with refreshments
throughout the day.

EARTHEN BUILDING WORKSHOP - FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN
Building with earth is loved by all ages, so we'd like to make this experience available for families with children, allowing the younger participants to pioneer in their creativity while being supported by parents.
During the family workshop we will construct a bench - playhouse.
Contribution: 30 Euro per person (aged 7+)
Children aged 6 and younger are welcome free of charge.
Limited places available
We kindly ask all parents to ensure that children stay on the designated paths during the Earthen Workshop, as the garden is a carefully planted subtropical fruit forest, and it’s important that no plants are damaged.
